The constant twists and turns in this film certainly have you hooked from the start, with great performances and cinematography throughout. My only quarrel is that, although there was no ideal candidate and Benitez delivered an impactful speech, I find it hard to believe they would choose a candidate they had no prior knowledge of.

This films score, visuals, and De Nitro’s performance manage to create a truly unsettling atmosphere. Just such a satisfying watch. I had no idea about the plot of this movie going in, was not expecting it to take the turn it did with him almost becoming a sort of vigilante determined to clean up the streets with his crippling loneliness only fuelling his instability.
Taxi Driver is definitely a disturbing masterpiece that captures the dark side of the American dream. However, I can’t pinpoint why I didn’t love this movie enough to give it 5 stars, think it might’ve been the pacing…
