Heretic 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I hate to love a fun shallow dive that problematizes mainstream religion; man’s clearly messed up (“there’s an entire spectrum that his game is neglecting”). Sophie Thatcher’s performance is stellar as usual, Chloe East shines.
Hugh Grant does great in this too, the guy’s a smart but super creepy fuck, and the idea of being stuck SAW-style in anybody’s TED™️ Talk is indeed truly horrifying.
My faith lowkey calls me to whack a misogynist kidnapping douchebag if necessary, wbu? 🤷♂️ Also youtu.be/Zxc20saM8DA?si=_iY1R22SmSANnQWm

The Brutalist 2024
At least as great as people say, with truly riveting performances. So many intimate and horrible moments; small bits of humanity in a situation and era of dehumanization. The cinematography, color, and VistaVision brought it all to life in a beautiful way.
Doesn’t feel as long as it is, but glad I watched it at home—though a larger screen would be absolutely worth it. It’s Brutal to be sure, but glad I finally watched.
