2019Im giving it half a star because I guess we should recognize Joaquin’s performance even though it’s far below any other performances he’s given in similar genres (re: The Master, You Were Never Really Here) . But holy shit this movie was reprehensible. The gimmick with the dwarf? The broad strokes with which it paints the mentally ill? Explaining Arthur’s depeavity as a result of childhood abuse? This is dangerous nihilistic rehtoric packaged as enlightenment for fuck boys who’ve never bothered to understand compassion
