Standard music biopic formula but a couple of really great scenes and the fact that the movie looks really damn nice bump it up.
Also I was waiting the whole movie thinking I would hear a song that I recognized but yeah I don’t know a single Robbie Williams song.
Stark reminder that the guy that made Parasite and Memories of Murder also made Okja and Snowpiercer.
It’s reasonably fun until it keeps going and going and you’re shocked to see it was only just over two hours long afterwards. It could’ve been 80 minutes and it still probably wouldn’t have enough substance to fill that. If I wanted an obnoxious Trump caricature I would just watch SNL (or Sebastian Stan doing it way better).
Extremely unsubtle without a ton to say that we don’t already know but still a pretty enjoyable watch.
Jeremy Strong and Sebastian Stan carry the movie. At the beginning you don’t see too much resemblance between Stan and Trump besides the hair and makeup. Then you start noticing things like the way he moves his mouth when he talks and his closed lip smile. By the end of the movie it’s uncanny how much he resembles Trump. It didn’t feel like a caricature and it’s great.
Also huge plus for pissing off Dan Snyder and taking his money.
