This World, Then the Fireworks 1997
It doesn’t look great — it reminded me of a TV movie in a way; flat mostly but with enough smoke, canted angles and shafts of light to obstruct that disappointment. Sheryl Lee is really something in her scenes, a great actress for the material. Music, dialogue and voiceover are comfortably pulpy and serve to place you in its time period, but it can’t shake the ‘90s movie vibe overall. Billy Zane doesn’t have a ton of range either, but he’s kinda perfect in this B-movie noir mode, whisper-talking so fast that you can only catch about 72% of what’s said.

Princess Mononoke 1997
Akin to Nausicaa, but seemingly more epic, violent and apocalyptic. For all its awesomeness, it slumps in the middle. I dig its mission statement of striking a balance between man and nature, just wish it was about a half hour shorter.

Boiler Room 2000
Great soundtrack. The predecessor to "Wolf of Wall Street" kind of plays as a tame, info-laden stocks morality tale, stuck in late 90s style and editing. But, it's still got good performances. The daddy issues speak to me.
