I think I had the luxury of lowered expectations going into this movie. I think that helped bolster my enjoyment of it, because I knew this film had certain issues going into it. I’m usually one to formulate my own opinion of anything I watch, but in this rare case, the influence of other’s opinions actually benefitted my viewing experience.

It definitely has its fair share of issues. HOWEVER, getting past that, it was honestly a really fun time. Specifically…

    Fantastic.

It’s a shame that Jim Carrey wasn’t celebrated for this performance, nor recognized by the Academy at the time of this film’s release.

Just a fantastic film. Top to bottom. Visceral ending. Just fantastic. Great soundtrack as well, I’d like to add.

Just phenomenal, don’t have much to say other than I can’t wait to rewatch it.

Cate Blanchett is a great actress. Like in general, throughout her career. I mean she’s iconic as Galadriel, that’s when I first learned about her.

That’s right. Borderlands. Yeah. Hmm. Well, I guess…no…well…

Borderlands is like an empty, zombified husk of a ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ clone masquerading as a movie. It really does not feel real. It’s honestly sort of a bizarrely unique feeling. Things sort of happen because the movie feels like they’re supposed to happen. So…

    I loved this movie man.

So so so so good. Up there in terms of my recent favorites. Just so incredibly captivating and fun, and interesting.

John Boyega was phenomenal. Teyonah Parris and Jamie Foxx were stellar as well. Incredibly strong performances. Super strong in its setting / atmosphere / uncanniness at times.

Really funny. Super interesting themes explored in a really fun way.

Excited to see what Juel Taylor directs next, because this is a very strong debut.

Go watch it and let me know what you think!
