Red Eye 2005
Starts off fine enough, but the longer it goes the worse it gets. Craven’s out of his depth here, unable to sustain the tension of the initial hook nor the plausibility of an increasingly ludicrous script.
Eventually, it limps itself along unexciting beat after unexciting beat into a limp climactic set piece—a cat-and-mouse suburban home chase that reeks like undercooked Scream leftovers.
Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy (🥵) do their best to sell it all so kudos to them, but by the time we’re reaching the end it just stops looking or feeling like a real movie. Insane (derogatory) final line/shot.

The Bird with the Crystal Plumage 1970
A good movie (especially for a directorial debut), but these early Argento’s lack that essential madman quality found in his best work. This is a good looking film, but I don’t think it has a tenth of the visual imagination and bravura of what he would go on to make.
