  This film has a certain straightahead, morally telegraphed rhythm to the screenplay that made it a less exciting viewing experience for me than other Kurosawa films.   Compared to Bittersweet Motel, this is an even more image-managed look at performances and puff interviews. Trey appears deeply unwell, and alludes to breaking up again in the first half hour of the doc.   I really enjoy the cognitive dissonance this film gives me. On the one hand - 2 grown adults lapse into emotionally (and likely physically) cheating on their absent spouses after an hour of unhinged gushing and manic recollections.
