    Holy shit.

This movie is unhinged, genreless, completely throws me and I loved it.

DO NOT think this movie is anything like the trailer or synopsis, you really don’t understand what you are about to watch. What the fuck.

I thought I was going to ironically rewatch a terrible fever dream I had as a child, with bad CGI and mixed stop motion toys and poor line delivery from unknown two bit actors.

Instead I just watched a 90’s time capsuled masterpiece. The mixture of practical (and honestly ahead of its time) CG animation is only rivaled by the poignant and well constructed story. Even the characters are believable and well rounded in their own goals.

    As a professional…

This was a movie I avoided for years because I accidentally saw a scene from it at 3am when I was a young child and wasn’t supposed to be up with the tv on. First time I believed late night television was cursed.

Now as an adult it is still very much cursed, but Audrey II is the possibly the single most amazing practical effect I’ve ever seen.

It’s been a while since a movie has made my spine rigid…

A trippy movie I can’t review well because It drew too many parallels to my own life that I couldn’t get past in order to truly take in and enjoy the film.

I do tire of overly artsy films with unique clanging scores, but this one is done in such a way that I felt sort of welcomed into its crazy perspective and somehow safe, even in chaos. That is a feat in and of itself, and I am honestly happy to have seen it regardless of my dredged up personal feelings.

Fun for people who can relate to dealing with narcissists.

Black and white “tribute montage” was not enough, I wish the entire beginning had just been that for at least 10 to 20 minutes and then we move forward to present day. Not just a montage of jokes.

I do wish there had been more practical effects, blood not staying where it should have landed was distracting. There was a missed opportunity for a lot of artistic scenes.

I would put this in the same basket as Van Helsing and Dark Shadows.
