i love josh oconnor and i love transhumance. josh oconnor is good enough in this that it’s probably a good and powerful film even without those preexisting preferences but the performances besides his sometimes make this feel like fanfiction about josh oconnor being so horny he’s confused by it while surrounded by lambs. which for me personally is so on the nose that watching mostly felt indulgent.

m night is so real for making an extended pitch deck for his daughters music career and also having josh hartnett take his shirt of for zero reason just to get tased an improbable number of times shirtless after he gives a monologue and then in the first shot after he’s done convulsing on the ground his shirt is back on. this is not the sort of decision making that is considered good taste but it is what i come to the movies for. not even in a horny way. high impact filmmaking.
