You know that Howard Hawks saying that a good movie is three good scenes and no bad ones? I had that in mind when I watched Man’s Castle and I think it passed Hawks’s test with flying colors. Every scene in this movie was entertaining, or at least had something interesting or engaging going on, and I enjoyed the wild Depression rollercoaster that the story took me on.

As soon as I started watching Gone in 60 Seconds on the Criterion Channel, something sounded… off. The soundtrack didn’t have that 70s funk sound you would expect especially for a low budget film from the era, but sounded more like synths. Some of the sound effects also sounded out of place too. It was so overwhelming that I had trouble paying attention to the film itself.
