Less than the sum of its parts. A fairly straightforward War of the Worlds adaptation that strips out most of the interesting characters to make some inscrutable point about coincidences. Has theological aspirations, but the film departs so far from reality that any commentary is kind of meaningless.

It's well made enough that you can tell there's some high-minded grasping at the essence of chaos and trying to project order (via coincidence) onto that, but all it has to show for it is spent effort. At least it has a pretty high humor content for such a dry take on alien invasion.
