Blue Velvet 1986
I always say this is a Hitchcock film on crack and by no means is that a criticism.
Anytime I do watch this film however, I am reminded of Roger Ebert’s review on it. I do agree with a few of his points and criticisms. I found myself mostly drawn to Isabella Rossellini’s performance and thought her relationship with Kyle MacLachlan’s character could’ve been explored more thoroughly as it was the most intriguing part of the film.

Rebel Without a Cause 1955
A really fun watch! The melodrama would perhaps be taken less seriously for modern day viewers and one may consider Dean's performance to be overripe at times, but you can clearly see how this piece was influential for its time. It's intriguing to witness the shifting ideas surrounding the youth, specifically men. Considering the times, with the emergence of pop icons like Elvis Presley, it was refreshing to see the new man being more ambiguous, feminine and three dimensional.

Orlock is the biggest diva. He didn’t really need to do all that but if anything is dead in this movie, it’s definitely not romance.
Anyways, the visual depiction and cinematography were brutally repulsive and fascinating. The last shot was beautifully graphic and perhaps one of my favourite shots out of the whole film.
