Tried to watch it again as one of those “switch your brain off fun action” films before bed last night - I was unusually in the mood for an alien attack sci-fi. This rubbish stoops below even the realm of “so bad it’s funny”.

The main characters, Jeff Goldbum, the girl from Nymphomaniac, Chris Hemsworth’s brother, some random comic relief guy, are flying around in their ship as the apocalypse is happening - this alien spaceship is smothering 3/4 of…

The audience cheered during the post-credits scene where the violins kick in and George Harrison and Jeff Lynne appear, and he says “I’m putting together a team.” Absolute chills.

I was thinking as I listened to his music, do you reckon Bob Dylan knew at the time that his lyrics sounded so AI generated? Very ChatGPT.

Only other note, amazing performance from Timothée Chalamet as per usual. As the film goes on, and he becomes less and less of a “complete unknown”, he transforms more and more into Bob Dylan. Truly a generational actor.

I really like the whole premise of this film, but I can't help thinking there's something missing in the study of how the two cannibals bond. Other than both being cannibals, what more is there? The film doesn't make a very convincing statement on that.

Loved Mark Rylance's character, looming over the protagonist throughout the story. I sense a missed opportunity for more quirky cannibal characters in the supporting cast, and the dialogue just felt pretty weak.

With that said, this is not a bad film. High 3.

This was exhausting to watch, many many words and my Marvel kid brain began to throttle just trying to keep up with Jodie Comer's one hour and forty minute monologue. Imagine actually having to perform this? Glad I pulled out of becoming a theatre kid when I did. I like my lungs.

This is rather quite profound, and I feel may require an additional watch to thoroughly digest. Although, with that said, I would say that everything is spelled out…
