joke's on me, i thought i was watching the musical tbh
frustrating and nonsensical from a narrative point of view. inconsistent writing betrays jenna's character; the affair plot is totally unnecessary. taking that route required a different approach.
the shot of jenna in the delivery room in clear focus while the others were blurry looked so cheap and the symbolism was so strikingly on the nose that i was physically shrinking into the couch waiting for the perspective to shift.…

Upon watching this film, I understand why Schumer had been cast originally. The movie epitomizes "white feminism" by very unsubtly pointing out what we already know to be true about the patriarchal status quo and catapulting Barbie from her matriarchal communist utopia to the hierarchical throes of Western capitalism. They even make sure to give her a vagina on the way to the office. How inspiring. I find it incredibly bleak.
