The shot of Lux lying on that field after prom, shoes off, date vanished, tiara fallen, looking so small surrounded by the expanse of American suburbia— has there ever been a scene that more poetically describes girlhood, crowned prom…

  This film has a really unique visual style and I think it deserves more credit than it gets. The dolls by Mari Shimizu are breathtaking and sure to delight any Alice fans. The story is a little lacking and very derivative, but I didn’t come for a groundbreaking narrative, I came for the marvelous aesthetic, and in that respect, it did not disappoint. There is enough of a story to make it easy to watch, but the visuals are the main attraction here.
