  That Frank Sinatra quote but instead of prayer, pills, or Jack Daniels, it's the fact that Tilda Swinton won a Oscar for this performance that gets me through the night.

  Cannot get over how much this so distinctly feels like a David Lynch film and also like something my mother would watch on the Inspiration Network. Farnsworth is fantastic and the deer lady is now one of my favorite one-scene movie characters, but this is just deeply, completely, and profoundly Not My Type of Thing. People throwing around words like "gentle" and "warm" and "pure" and "generosity of spirit" in their reviews which are simply not things I look for in my movies. Bones and All is my version of this (repressed person with no car travels across the Midwest to see estranged family member).

  Love that my favorite director made a movie about my life if I weren't poor, southern, and tacky!
  (This is very good. I love how it recalls her previous films and recurring themes but with more air, delight, and warmth. More and more I think Coppola is maybe our most subtle and astute observer).
  Can I say I've "attended" the New York Fim Festival now?

  There is definitely a movie in here I could love, if it were less blunt and conventional. And didn't have the voiceover. And ended a minute sooner. Still, love Robert Ryan, love a murder on a train plot.
