  Dang. Really wanted to like it, and thought I’d like it. A few stars for breathtaking costumes/set design/cinematography, bravo to all. Emma Stone is brilliant and her dialogue and delivery was both thoughtful and truly truly funny. 

  So many labeled this a ~feminist film~ and I couldn’t disagree more unfortunately! I couldn’t get past the hypersexualization of a woman with the brain of a small child? Why would she be masturbating with fruit while still experiencing much earlier stages of development?…

  I fall asleep in fast paced action movies often. But this - I was enthralled. 

  Keeping your troubled spirit hidden from those who look to you for guidance. What a truly complicated, complicated concept. 

  The simplistic, yet remarkably symbolic picture of Sophie copying her father in scene after scene is what I ultimately walked away with. He seems to discourage this playful act sometimes, almost in fear that she might ultimately experience some of his shared demons.
