It was fine. I appreciated it for what it was but it just didn’t really hold me. I also am just generally annoyed by 3D animation that pretends to be stop motion, even if this was remarkably executed. While the character animation was phenomenal, I wish the directors would let the visuals speak for themselves, rather than explaining the inner thoughts of our characters on screen.
What a joy of a film - really did feel like something made out of pure love of the craft. I felt like it really got the point of making art with your friends - not really to make something beautiful or even good but to share in a kind of magical moment.
Really happy that this film exists - in all of its almost fully rotoscoped glory.
I think one of the best movies I’ve seen all year - with my hands down favorite closing shot and the most beautiful sex scene I’ve ever watched. This film so slow, intimate, and rich that it doesn’t need high stakes to draw you in and keep you there.
