The Cat in the Hat 2003
Every now and then a piece of art is created that shakes the very foundations of what we know cinema to be. It holds a unapologetically truthful mirror to contemporary society. It ties us to a chair, keeps our eyelids open with metal rods and forces us to stare into this mirror for 90 minutes. It confronts us with the horrifying but beautiful reality of the human condition. The Cat in the Hat (2003) is certainly not an example of this but is fuckin funny I’ll tell you that much.
