  I consider Birdman essential viewing for the study of American art. It's a beautifully written and meaningful exploration of ego and immortality.

  Each character is sickeningly ego driven, chasing after different fabled versions of prestige and power that would give meaning to their lives, would show that they existed, and that they had an impact.
