  i feel like there is an absolutely amazing, heartbreaking story to be told here but it is buried beneath 600 ft of gimmicky camera work, non linear storytelling and general vagueness in all imaginable facets. this is not to say that the movie does not deal with massively important topics, and deals with them well, but it is difficult to get at them when they are smothered in the sophomoric student film style

  everything you would expect from a bong movie just way less good than a bong movie should be, the dialogue felt flat a lot, i think fundamentally the film itself as an idea just isnt that good but bong still sort of did his thing

  wow wow wow this was really insane, i thought the letterboxd hype was going to be false but this was really amazing, everything from the cinematography to the performances to the music were perfect. as someone who read the book i was worried it was not going to do it justice but this blew me away completely, by far the best film i have ever seen in the cinema. well done denis villeneuve
