“your heart, doc—together with other vital organs—is in the corner, wrapped in a blanket. how about it?”

the second watch on my journey to watch every film my dad owned on DVD. i can’t lie, i was hoping for something a little more phantom of the opera-esque with this, but i’m not disappointed in that regard.

was it terrible? i wouldn’t say that. would i watch it again? i wouldn’t say that, either. the dialogue was pretty funny, i’m not sure if it was intentional or a matter of translating for the english dub.

a fitting first on my journey to watch every dvd my dad owns. the dead next door, despite it’s low budget and amateur filming materials, features gore effects that are better than a lot of movies ive seen in the past few years. i was tickled to learn it was secretly financed by sam reimi and featured some voicing from bruce campbell!

a campy zombie movies from the 80s, what more could you ask for?

the only likable character was probably the pest control guy we see for a minute or the lady with the doll. the soundtrack wasn’t anything special. the kills weren’t anything special. art’s design doesn’t strike me as particularly unique, either. i’m just really struggling to see the appeal?

    i think there’s just sooo…
