Quite campy. One of many Tarantino-Rodriguez collaborations. Tim Roth's character is based on an older film called The Bellboy, in which Jerry Lewis plays a silent, though very animated, bellboy. Ultimately nothing seems to matter, as there isn't enough tonal similarity or plot to intertwine the stories in this anthology, which is why it gets a lower rating despite having some really fantastic scenes and performances(particularly Jennifer Beals). Despite its shortcomings, it's still one of my favorites.

Punch-Drunk Love 2002
The sound design for this movie was anxiety-inducing in the theatrical setting. The repetitive song sample rising to a crescendo that blasted out of the speakers, layered over dialogue and other background noise/music, causing one to strain to hear and experience confusion and frustration, the tension building as Barry continues with this increasingly manic energy until you could feel the oppressive pillow of his obsessive nature bearing down on you as you sat helpless in your seat like a coma…

Life of Brian 1979
If it wasn't for this movie, I wouldn't have pissed off half the audience by whistling during opening night of The Passion of the Christ. Only time I've ever been yelled at in a theater. 5/5

Magnolia 1999
I watch this when I want to FEEL EXTREMELY because it pretty much runs the gamut of human emotion. PT Anderson knows how to build tension like few directors can. The way he uses music and sound design in all of his films is unique and wonderful to behold. It's not a film you can put on in the background, you will get sucked into the drama. There are so many standout performances, I hate to only mention Tom Cruise, but that character is so tortured and interesting, and he plays it so well, it's worth watching just to see his parts.
