Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) 2014
Loooove the drumming soundtrack, adds to the mind-boggling pieces of sanity the protagonist tries to hold onto. Refreshing cinematography with long takes, adds to the rawness of each character (who own their roles brilliantly). Uniquely exposes a father-daughter relationship in a painfully fragmented way.

Snowpiercer 2013
An original concept, and remarkable for its one-location and yet building upon a world with each transition. Your typical apocalyptic/dystopian movie, but a great ending that will satisfy your I-hate-Hollywood and happily ever after brainwashing flavor (or maybe that's just me).
