Rikyu 1989
Slow and methodical. Two words that best describe Teshigahara'a Rikyu. An authentic recollection of the last years of the tea masters life, primarily focusing on his relationship with Hideyoshi, and the gradual rift that distanced the two men, and led to Rikyu's ritual suicide. Visually average, with only a handful of scenes deserving praise, most notably the ending. Overall a decent film, pairs well with Kei Kumai's Death of a Tea Master, which goes more into the metaphysical aspects of his life and reasoning.
