    Wendell & Wild

    ★★★½

As a big fan of Coraline, I was excited for the release of Wendell & Wild! The animation style and music choices, reminiscent of Coraline, are great - the animation is particularly wonderful. Loved the characters, Key and Peele voice titular duo Wendell and Wild and are as witty as ever - would love to see a short exploring their origin stories, or a sequel about the faire post - film. Unfortunately, the narrative isn’t as strong as the visuals and in my opinion, gets a little lost towards the middle but ultimately pulls it together at the end. A fun watch!

    ★★

Katherine Heigl was the best thing about this film. What started as a light - hearted queer drama/comedy quickly became allll about the main characters’ homophobic family and their ‘journey’ to acceptance. This could’ve worked, however the pacing was slow and the queer characters had barely any screen time or backstory, disappointing

    The Girl on the Train

    ★★½

Emily Blunt’s performance as Rachel Watson is the only redeemable thing about the film adaption of The Girl On The Train, (2016) sadly it does not compare to the book at all. Choosing to set it in America rather than London as it is written was a mistake as it creates unnecessary plot holes, the plot itself is tense but slow to progress and the other main characters are unremarkable.

Taika Waititi once again proves himself to be a brilliant director and actor with Jojo Rabbit, managing to make a very sensitive subject comedic yet heartwarming without being offensive. The plot flowed well and was interesting throughout, the characters were likeable and Roman Griffin Davis was great as Jojo.

I laughed, I cried, I enjoyed it so much I’ll definitely be going to see it again - fuck hitler✌🏼
