Oh? Non-linear storytelling? Long takes on Dunkirk beach?

    Christopher Nolan wishes.

“Swing, or nothing will ever happen.”

I wish I could lop off about 30 minutes of this and only have the slow vibes and baseball scenes, but even so I absolutely loved this. Gorgeous movie. Quite funny. I’d like to have the baseball scenes playing on a loop. The violence was hard for me to watch, but I can’t hold that against the film.

This movie is STUNNING. I hope I can see it in a theater someday. The mother-daughter storyline is perhaps a bit well-worn but I was touched by it and the performances. Huppert is extremely good in this, even by her standards.

Things this movie has: Apartment porn. Art! Art forgery! Questions about the value of a forgery and what is and isn’t the real thing. Cyberpunk urban aesthetics. A beautiful synth-driven score. Huppert vaping in a silk gown. Huppert drunkenly dancing alone in her Parisian apartment. Huppert dancing at a rousing after party in her Parisian apartment after her show opening.

I often felt verklempt at the attention to detail this film pays to design.

There’s some very real critiques that can be made about the way this film hastily and messily wraps up.

Corbet needs to make some female friends that aren’t his wife.
