When a movie costs this much to make and the final product is so weak and forgettable, it totally deserves every single criticism it has gotten. It feels like it was written by AI and it looks cheap. Its depressing how great filmmakers can’t get funding for their projects but Netflix gives this junk $320 million dollars.

I went into this movie knowing very little about it and that’s probably why I enjoyed it so much more than others who had it spoiled with the trailers. It had a good balance of humor and suspense and I was entertained by the story. I did have an issue with the fact that some characters do make some dumb choices for the sake of exposition and or plot conveniences. Also, (——SPOILERS——) I wish they had done more with Iris…

For mood and style I give this movie high marks. I also love how it makes a bold choice by switching genres halfway through. My big issue is that once we got our big reveal, the movie becomes considerably weaker. “The devil made me do it” pretty much becomes the explanation for everything and that only makes the characters and story feel less fleshed-out. I can’t say I didn’t have fun watching this but it had potential to have been so much greater
