Propaganda at its finest... a movie replete with montages, patriotic sequences placed sporadically throughout the film to mask the lack of substance... Rocky, a diligent immigrant, toiling under the harsh Siberian sun, remains a figment of an atavistic American ideal, whereas Paulie, the lustful drunk, is the true representation of America. The essence of the film is a false dichotomy - a prudent imperialistic nation produces a film to denigrate an iniquitous tyrannical nation...? Am I to hope for a tie?
