The Brutalist 2024
First things first: the title sequences were magnificent and I gasped. Of course this movie is monumental, and while I can sympathise with the critics, for me it provided an original cinematic experience that I very much enjoyed. The photography was everything of course, and I think is what carried the film from beginning to end. edit: after the initial excitement stemming from the masterful execution of this film, I must say that it was, essence-wise, quite shallow and not of this age. It teased at political ideologies and feminist thought, but never quite, truly, delivered. It did stir up discussion on these topics amongst us, outside the cinema, but I can definitely say that we are in need of much more beyond what was delivered.
