Struggles under the weight of being the immediate follow up to Cuarón’s, but has its moments.
Shoutout to David Tennant for playing a weird little freak, and Brendan Gleeson for playing David Tennant playing a weird little freak.

Undoubtedly one of my favourite movies growing up and it still has a special place in my memories. Cuarón broke the mould of the preceding films brilliantly, setting a tone and style that future instalments would try and fail to emulate. Also the last Harry Potter film to feature the musical stylings of John Williams, who continues to deliver absolute bangers, if by bangers you mean extended nostalgic flute/recorder solos, which I do.
Maybe a perfect movie?
The sheer sustained hilarity of it all is an incredible achievement, constantly peppering you with bits, gags and jokes which build on one another while never getting repetitive.
The pacing is pitch perfect, and no part ever wears out its welcome. Tews’ physical comedy as Jean Kayak in particular is delightful and his wonderfully strange range of wordless groans, screams, cackles and yelps is the cherry on top of his performance.
Somehow an excellent homage to…
Good filum but shouldn’t have caved and turned the saffron flags red.
