Claude Rains makes any movie he’s in at least 10% better. Not as funny as it could have been, and I bet a modern adaptation would do some fun things with Mr. Jordan’s powers. But what this really made me want was a TV series about someone hopping to a different body every episode. Basically Doctor Who meets Poker Face? Idk i think it would work.

I wish action movies were still consistently this fun. The plot is barely comprehensible, and the racism is … unfortunately familiar, but the 90s music video vibes are immaculate and the soundtrack is wall to wall bangers. I laughed out loud a dozen times, and I think more than half of the triggers were things the filmmakers intended.

Extremely silly, entertaining, and surprisingly well-timed for a movie that finished shooting more than 2 years ago … the villain is an egomaniacal, deeply insecure, unelected ruler who sees women as interchangeable uteruses, dreams of colonizing space and spreading whiteness, and has legions of pathetic fans? Sounds familiar.
Despite winning performance(s) by Robert Pattinson, there’s a bit too much silliness in this for my taste — the characters rarely seem to be making meaningful moral choices, and the over the top satire undermines provocative ideas about free will, science, and what defines a society. Might not revisit this one but I had a very good time.
