I feel like ‘In Bruges’ uses the concept of ‘Chekov’s Gun’ really well. Everything that was mentioned came to fruition, which made the whole movie super satisfying to watch. The dialogue was funny, witty and made even better with an Irish accent. Bloody loved how accurate the chase scene between Voldemort and Corin Farrell was, they both got puffed and I respect that. No one can sprint through a city in a minute and a half and keep going without…
I thought the lobster explored an interesting concept and subtly created a world that supported it. Whilst at some points amusing and somewhat absurd, I wouldn’t say it’s a comedy, but rather an exploration of two polarising views on the way to live life- alone or together. I loved the use of slowmo, which created a strange sense of dreamy voyeurism. I found the pacing was slow at first, but quickly became drawn in to the characters and the world. Olivia Coleman was awesome, her and her hubby’s song was hands down my favourite scene.
