Part of the charm of the Mad Max franchise is imagining Australia's rise and rise of the (resourceful) bogan coincide with its linguistic decline. I mean, the outfits are not far off the satirical Ken in Barbie with his Rocky inspirated getup.

Anyways, George Miller believes that the children are the future; treat them well, let them lead the way.

First time I've stepped inside a cinema since Judas and the Black Messiah. Haven't seen this much sand since Lawrence of Arabia but this is an excellent adaptation of the book (I can't remember the Lynch version as I watched it years ago). The cast is wonderful, as is the cinematography and soundtrack. Timmy smolders on the screen, and I'm looking forward to see more Zendaya in the sequel.

Barbie's perfect life is disrupted by an onset of existential angst. The trip to Real World (LA), as advised by Weird Barbie, sees Ken and Barbie respond in very different ways, which is both poignant and hilarious. Some nice nods to other movies, such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Rocky, and Grease, and pointed references to the patriarchy and feminist theories. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are perfectly cast, and America Ferrera is also excellent. There was just the right amount of Michael Cera but I wanted more Ncuti Gatwa. Great music and dancing, 5 dream houses out of 5 for me.
