My enjoyment for this film increased so much when I started viewing it as a live action cartoon. Everyone in this is so silly and extra. Shout out Robert Pattinson for another excellent silly voice and shout out Mark Ruffalo for once again elevating a performance by committing to the bit!

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind 1984
Considering all I knew about this film was that it was the one that kicked off Ghibli’s creation, I massively underestimated how good this was going to be. It’s easily up there with the best I’ve seen so far.
Really enjoyed the story and it was really cool to see how Ghibli’s environmentalist messages were there right from the start. Same goes for Joe Hisaishi. Man is literally allergic to making anything other than a 10/10 soundtrack every time.

When it was announced that Olivia Colman had won best actress for her role in this film I was genuinely so happy for her. I hadn’t even seen her performance, but I just thought it was lovely that a British actress who has been so cherished in her own country was finally getting wider appreciation.
