"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe themselves to be free."

The Brutalist is an impressive balancing act of deep, fleshed out characters and commentary on the migrant experience as a whole in America. It’s a balancing act that I think is successful in both aspects.

Adrien Brody makes you believe in Laszlo Toth, feel his pain. He would be the easy best actor pick for me were it not for the AI accent question marks. Guy…

This film was absolutely hard to watch and horrific, but not in the way I expected. It’s almost as if generally the discussion and portrayal of the history of the Holocaust has been reduced to a few cliches about how it was such a monstrous event and we have to make sure it never happens again.

This film really adds something much more horrific than a bunch of historical actors carrying out heinous events. It makes the Holocaust almost feel…

For most of the film’s duration I was feeling positively neutral about it. Then the last twenty minutes tied it together oh so well to create quite the impact. Such a powerful examination of truth and what lengths people go to bend it or completely alter it in their favor. Whether that be for major events or small details to make ourselves seem better, to create an image of us that we want others to see, it is always happening.…

Maybe tried to do just a bit to much at the end that it became a bit cluttered. Honestly though a lot of good going on here. Notably the acting, the setting the use of shadow to build that sense of foreboding, and the personification of inner demons. Definitely enjoyed more than I didn’t.

A film that blends horror and religious philosophy? Needless to say it was right up my alley. Anchored by an excellent trio of performances, this was thought provoking as well as enjoyable. I feel like the transition from the first part to the second could have been better executed, but outside of that I loved it. The dialogue too, was quite enjoyable with funny references and interesting debates, I was never bored. Also, exceptional ending mirroring some of the best…

I don’t know what I was expecting from Bolt but it sure wasn’t me shedding a few actual tears. What it lacks in originality of plot it mostly makes up for in heart. I enjoyed it mostly and more than expected.
