I’m finding it really hard to settle on a rating for Mickey 17. On one hand it was an enjoyable experience, with Pattinson’s brilliant performance(s) driving it forward and keeping me entertained throughout. However, I was also quite disappointed with the film on various levels. Following on from Parasite is undoubtedly a tough act, but even ignoring this (unfair and unwarranted) comparison won’t detract from the many shortcomings of Mickey 17.

An example of meticulous precision, execution and attention to detail, The Killer is as straightforward as it is stylish. Fincher's skill is aided by Michael Fassbender's commanding, yet subtle, performance. It's interesting that I was hooked throughout the film's runtime of 2 hours, despite not being particularly impressed by the story. I think it's a testament to how strong the opening stretch was, and I can't help thinking about how much more this film could have been. That being said, I can comfortably say that this film, while not being anything special, still showcases incredible skill and is an entertaining experience.
