Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2009
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Easily my favourite book now, but I'm not sure what they did to the movie. Adequate stakes for what is the last bit of "normal" schooling before they go on the horcrux hunt, and I feel like I enjoy it the most because it's the one time Harry is really "just a student" at the school. Only complaint is all the scenes and big plot changes of the movie, like no funeral and the end, whatever they did to Ginny, and of course, there's still not enough Quidditch.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 2007
As I've been watching these movies through with the books, I'm just starting to notice how jumbled up and messy this movie is, let alone how much of the plot is left out (no Quidditch?). It probably doesn't help that it's source material is the longest, most complicated book in the series.

i'm sorry to say that i haven't watched every one of joel's movies this year. not because i didn't want to, just because i couldn't. i can't convince my family to watch them, i don't have enough other free time, and when i do have that free time, i can only watch these movies on my computer, and i feel like that's an experience that butchers the movie.
this movie told me that's not the case. maybe it doesn't matter…
