Pretty dope. Moody and unsettling. I wondered how they could they could substantiate the preposterous notion of a spidery creature with the fathers visage. I buy it. Well done. Doesn't really make sense. Dream logic. Really works well like that.

It's good to see this film after it being virtually lost since 1977. I think this had a VHS release, but has been neglected in the sweeping digital restoration waves of the last 20+ years until Vinegar Syndrome managed to get it and fix it up.

What a strange movie. It seems like such an artifact of it's time. But I'm not sure people ever really spoke or acted the way they do in this movie. It's almost as though…

Slow burn. You know where it's headed, but that still doesn't take the sting or impact out of the ending.

Probably similar to Funny Games, this is designed to prey on every protective instinct you have. For your children, for yourself, for the protection of others.

You can criticize the main characters for some of their choices for sure, but that's besides the point of the film. You feel helpless for them. Probably angry because you wouldn't make the same choices. But again, there's nothing you can do for these characters. And I think that's the point.

Definitely not a "fun" watch, but very well done.
