Boy, this was tricky to pick a star rating. I do love Eggers's sense of place, you can tell he started as a production designer in the best way, his devotion to accuracy in costuming in particular is designed to please me personally. But this kind of waffled for me. Some moments were really fantastic, and by the third act (Willem Defoe!) it had hooked me well and good, but it felt like it took a moment to get there.…
