Watched for Macabrella's Movie Challenge 2025

This was a bit disappointing. It's okay and I definitely liked the concept, but the execution could have been better. It starts out pretty strong, but in the end it kind of loses itself and the artistic style it was going for. Also fuck generative AI. Because of those two reasons I can only give it three stars. I wish I could like it more, because the concept is one of the most delicious of all found footage horror movies, but it just doesn't quite reach its potential.

Watched for Macabrella's Movie Challenge 2025

This was an interesting little film. While it was not quite as surreal as Cemetery Man, it had at times similar somewhat dreamlike atmosphere, which I quite liked. The story is full of cliches and the acting performances were just about what you'd expect from a movie like this, but a dreamy vibe always goes a long way for me in a horror movie.

I'm not gonna lie, I had a hard time watching this movie because of its length and its epic yet slow and sometimes a bit meandering tone. I definitely need to watch it again sone time to get everything out of the narrative.

However I'm still rating it so high because it is simply gorgeous. The music is beautifully haunting, especially the choir segments. And visually its absolutely stunning, from the sets and the costumes to the cinematography this is…

I liked this a lot more now than the first time I saw this. That is probably in part because this time I knew the backstory of how this film came to be, which kind of explains why it is the way it is.

It's sad that we will never know what the proposed TV series would have been if it had been made. We might have gotten another Twin Peaks, but alas that wasn't meant to be. Instead we got this film, which is deeply fascinating in all of its open-ended glory.

    Rest in dream, David Lynch!
