    Hooting, hollering, and high fiving every star in the night sky.

    A nostalgic, screamingly funny blast of non-stop comedic lunacy from two of the best animated icons to ever do it. Accompanied by a brilliant screenplay that has no shortage of references and loving tributes to the horror/sci-fi canon of the 1950s as well as a climax that feels pulled from a ‘90s Michael Bay flick, this is already an early highlight for 2025.

    Begins to run on fumes by the time the climax kicks into gear, but this is still a wildly silly and fun action comedy elevated by an excellent lead performance from Jack Quaid, who shares wonderful chemistry with co-star Amber Midthunder. Ray Nicholson has a great career ahead of him playing smarmy villains. 

    Best of all: this truly earns the film’s heavy R-rating (some of the gory set pieces here are absolutely batty).

    A gloriously gory hoot and a half from Osgood Perkins, working from Stephen King’s short story. A horror-comedy that thankfully succeeds at the conventions of each genre, creeping you out one moment before eliciting a belly laugh minutes later. Fun stuff!

    Plus, Theo James in his nerdy little glasses and Rohan Campbell are both stupidly hot (even when the latter is draped in a Party City ‘80s rocker wig). Shoutout to Canadian queen Tatiana Maslany who has one of my…
