Some things were harder to watch this time around—but everything in this film is in it consciously, and that means a lot of things to think about. Some "oofs" felt when walking out of the theater become "hmmmms" upon deeper reflection.
The visuals are amazing, of course. The story? There is more there there the deeper you look.
In prior watchings, I didn't catch how much commentary there is in this film on the ways social justice movements do (and do not) operate. It's true that it feels a bit preachy and obvious, but there is more going on here than just the direct-to-the-face message. (And, the direct-to-the-face message is still important and complicated and good for people of all ages to face.)
