Good coming-of-age movie. I found a lot of the dialogue to be really funny. Tim Chalamet (I can call him Tim because we’re friends) is going places. Saoirse Ronan was great. A lot of it resonated despite me being a 24 yr old male rather than a 17 year old female.

A TikTok edit featuring Punxsutawney Phil got me to watch this movie, so I hoped it was good.

Wonderful cinematography - so many scenes where the cardinal red pops off the screen. I could watch a slideshow of stills from this movie for a good while. I love Ralph Fiennes and hung on to every word he said. I could feel a twist coming but admittedly didn’t see this one coming. All in all, a solid political thriller with great performances.

The first half of this movie could make you think this could be some sort of “Great American Success” story, but there’s enough hints to tell you otherwise. Altogether, it’s very bleak to me, detailing Laszlo’s immigrant journey to his eventual destination. Nearly every shot is grand and enthralling. Great performances by all, I was specifically impressed by Adrien Brody and Guy Pearce. I go back and forth on whether I feel the ending was heavy handed or well-executed, unfortunate irony. It doesn’t feel its long runtime, and deserving of all the attention it’s getting this award season.

And I think I love intermissions

Really fun movie. Samara Weaving is awesome- she gets so disgusting and primal  throughout the movie I’m not sure how she went through it.
