Been a fan of Phillip Glass for a few years but this movie takes his music to another level. Going to think about this movie for a while and may even dream about it. Would probably be even better if you were high.
Pretty powerful how a movie can still shake you even without words, actors, or a plot.
Never seen a movie like this where there is very little live dialogue. You wouldn’t like this if you have a short attention span but gdamn there are a lot of beautiful scenes in this. In the back of your mind you think you know what these depressed Hollywood actors go through in their head but seeing a movie about it was kind of fascinating.
Double take thinking it was The Departed until I realized it WAS. Chinese OG movie that Scorsese fell in love with and had to remake. Fantastic movie and I love that it was under 2 hours. No need to make a good film 180 minutes long - f*ck that let’s make it 101 minutes. The Departed has some slight differences in soundtrack and builds on the relationship aspect a bit more. But overall the movies are extremely comparable minus the final scene.
Phenomenal story but the movie was in black and white so it physically cannot be better than 3.5 stars imo. Sorry boomers!
