It’s not “good”. The acting is mediocre, the story is predictable, and the nod to Bezos too on the nose and cringey.
But I really liked it? The personality put into each robot is endearing, and the world building has all sorts of great touches. Like, there are super intelligent robots and drones but it’s 1994 so all the computers are just 1994 computers.
How did they get Disney princess voices to sing novel songs over animation done by a 12yo at summer "coding camp"? I have so many questions about how this was made, why so many notable people agreed to participate, and what in the world is going on here. Exactly zero of those questions were answered by rewatching it.
This movie slaps for all sorts of reasons, which mostly boils down to giant things fighting each other tends to be cool.
But what makes this a genuinely good watch is the buildup through lighting. The way the fights are hidden by smoke but illuminated with lightening and fire and the way that Godzilla is revealed through gunfight flares and airplanes exploding is just next level.
