Nosferatu 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Maybe I'm not reading into it enough, or maybe too much??
I thought it was a very compelling and terrifying adaptation of Bram Stocker's Dracula. But also I get scared easy so there's that.
It was interesting that essentially Jane's single act of agency was what "saved the day," but also that it was ultimately self-sacrifice. There's definitely some feminist reading there that I don't fully understand, but I got a vibe.
Also the weird kind of "horror-ification" of lust…Translated from by -
Return to Cuba 2016
Great doc. It's a lot less concerned about the politics and economics that often lead public discourse surrounding Cuba, instead choosing to focus on the reality of cuban citizens, especially those that for one reason or another chose to go back.

Spirited Away 2001
My Mom used to scare me by saying that if I ate fast food I would turn into a pig just like Chihiro's parents. Love this movie.

Asteroid City 2023
The Wes Anderson trend on Tiktok almost ruined the visual experience on this; but the alien and narrator scenes keep it from being just a live action Looney tunes set 24/7.
Because of this, the movie shines when it commits to the idea that the story is dumb, but also when it goes deep into the character's very real feelings and thoughts around this dumb story.
