  Leaving the theatre, I knew this was my favourite movie of the year other than My Old Ass (also Furiosa was good. Two Oscar snubs). 

  My favourite thing a movie can do is breathe life into someone you feel you’ve seen before (on the subway, at a cafe) and completely open them up, and I’m surprised / grateful for the warmth with which Sean Baker does that. 

  Annie is tough but deeply lonely, and capable of aggression but carelessly hopeful…
