Laughed some, but ultimately disposable. Reynolds’ schtick usually annoys me, but when presented in the form of a character that annoys everyone else it isn’t as bad. Some okay jokes but most of the movie has already left my brain.
Makes me sad that people praise the Oldboy scene when they clearly have never seen Oldboy.
It’s good, but I was finally hit by the Fincher coldness. It both works and doesn’t here, as it makes our characters sometimes lack emotional resonance. I love that Fincher takes dime store sleeve and turns it into Kubrickian perfection. Some people don’t like that but I find the contradiction interesting.

I was fooled into thinking this was going to be a martial arts film, I should have known better. There is good fight choreography to be found here, but it totals about 3 minutes of actual screen time. The rest of the action is bloated and overdone. Let’s just say the climax should have ended a good 10-15 minutes earlier than it did.
